Designed for the practitioner, this ointment ("gao") is perfect for use in Fire Cupping, Gua Sha, Tui Na or massage. It is formulated with Chinese herbs to reduce bruising, swelling and pain as well as resolve toxins. There are several advantages to using coconut oil: it is a natural oil that is easily absorbed by the skin (unlike petroleum-based salves) and it is solid at temperatures below 76⁰F so is less messy than liquid carrier oils. In addition, since there is no need for wax to form the solid ointment, the concentration of herbs is higher than other salves on the market. According to TCM, the herbs in this gao Move Blood, Break Up Stasis, Stop Pain, Resolve Toxins and Aromatically Transform Damp. The herbs lend an aromatic scent to the final product without the addition of any artificial fragrances or potential skin-irritants such as menthol or methyl salicylate (wintergreen oil). Available in original formula or with Eucalyptus essential oil (particularly useful when applying cupping for the treatment of Lung patterns).*
